Learning in a group isn’t for everyone. If you’d prefer a more personal approach, our Private Photography Tuitionoffers dedicated, one-to-one guidance tailored entirely around you, your interests, and your experience level.
This private tuition is a collaboration between Jason Friend Photography and David Taylor Photography, bringing together two experienced Northumberland photographers with complementary styles and teaching approaches.
Choose Your Photographer
When booking, you can choose which photographer you’d like to work with — Jason Friend or David Taylor — depending on whose style, approach, or portfolio best suits your goals. Whichever you choose, your workshop will be carefully planned to ensure a relaxed, supportive, and inspiring learning experience.
Private tuition can be arranged as:
- One-to-one tuition
- One-to-two, if you’d like to share the experience with a friend
Tailored to You
Your private workshop is built entirely around your needs. Whether you’re just starting out, looking to improve your compositional eye, or refining your skills with a view to taking photography more seriously, the session will be adapted to your pace and interests.
Locations can be:
- Chosen by you
- Or suggested by your photographer, based on light, conditions, and your goals
Workshops can take place anywhere across Northumberland and the wider North East, from dramatic coastlines and rolling uplands to historic sites and quieter, lesser-known landscapes.
Flexible, Focused Learning
Private landscape photography tuition offers a flexible and immersive way to learn. You’ll have the time and space to slow down, ask questions, and explore techniques in real shooting conditions — without the distractions that can come with group workshops.
Sessions typically run as:
- Full day (approximately 7 hours)
- Half day (approximately 3½ hours)
Pricing
- £200 — Full day private tuition
- £120 — Half day private tuition
Private workshops run throughout the year, subject to availability. Once your booking is received, we’ll be in touch to finalise the details, including location, timings, and any specific areas you’d like to focus on.
Photographing Northumberland
Northumberland is one of England’s most inspiring and least populated counties — often described as the land of far horizons. From the dramatic remains of Hadrian’s Wall and the wild beauty of the Northumberland Heritage Coast, to rolling uplands, ancient castles, and vast open skies, the region offers endless photographic potential.
Whether you’re drawn to coastal scenes, historic landscapes, or quieter, more intimate locations, private tuition in Northumberland allows you to explore the area at your own pace, guided by a photographer who knows the region intimately.
